027. Plastic Free July & Circular Carnival with Danii Mcletchie of Carnicycle
Show Notes

Ignighted by her love for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, an appreciation for the environment, and an aversion to over consumption, Danii Mcletchie co-founded Carnicycle to bridge the gap between carnival culture and sustainability. On this episode host Derval Barzey sits down with Danii to discuss becoming plastic positive.

This social entrepreneur gives new life to single-use plastic used in costumes and carnival events, reducing the ecological footprint by integrating principles of sustainability and circularity  in the 'greatest show on earth.'

Carnicycle is the #1 Carnival costume recycle. Since launching in November 2018, Carnicycle has recycled over 200 costumes. The COVID pandemic forced their pivot towards more online engagement with webinars, talks and other virtual activities, until the parade of the bands resumes.
