Implementing Sustainable Solutions with Dagmara Avanindra
Wanting to be closer to the impact of her work on end users Dagmara Avanindra pivoted her career from designing graphic systems and networking equipment in Silicon Valley to implementing renewable energy projects in the Caribbean.
She recognized Sustainable Energy as the way to go and answered her calling to help make islands energy independent. Dagmara was drawn to the island of Aruba which was the first in the region to set a national target for renewable energy. Although falling short of its ambitions target for 100% renewables by 2020 much has been done to advance the island's sustainable energy transition.
Dagmara's company, DAVA Energy Solutions Limited and her involvement in non-profit organizations are focused on making the best decisions for ourselves and the planet. She shares her experience implementing change in island energy systems. Dagmara promotes transparency between Utilities, Regulators and Consumers as key to accelerating the rate sustainable energy project development. When implementing change we have to be ok with making mistakes. There is shared value from the challenges faced by first movers which can be applied to other islands in the region at varying stages of their sustainable energy transition.
